Why not check out ALL of it instead of just the swanky parts?
Here's an alternative tour - LA Gang Tours. Run by ex-gang member, the tour takes passengers on a coach bus through the areas of LA that are significant to the rise of gang culture.
I think this is pretty cool - most tourists would never dare enter the gang run streets of LA (unless they were looking for something in particular). Its really an interesting way to educate outsiders and raise awareness.
